Our Vision and Mission
Vision
Establishment of a democratic and secular society in Iran bound by the United Nations’ Charter of Human Rights.
Mission
To support the Iranian people's struggle to establish a democratic and secular society in Iran. To that end, CDI strives to empower Iranian Canadians to be a voice for the Iranian people in Iran whose voices are silenced, and their democratic demands violated by the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI). This will be achieved by transmitting Iranian people’s stories, struggles, and aspirations to Canadians, including policymakers, media, and concerned citizens to assist Iranians in the establishment of a free, democratic, and just society in Iran.
Core Values
Human Rights Charter: CDI fully complies with the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms as well as the Universal Declaration of Human and all its amendments.
Non-Partisan: CDI does not side with any Iranian political party or group. CDI will work with all Canadian political parties in a non-partisan fashion.
Diversity: CDI upholds the value of equity, diversity, and inclusion. These features will be reflected in all CDI activities.
Strategy
CDI’s strategies include:
• Informing Canadians and the Canadian political and human rights institutions, including the Government of Canada, the provincial governments as well as civil society organizations about the Iranian people's struggle and their demand for a democratic society.
• Advocating for pro-democracy movements in Iran among media, parliamentarians, and the public at large.
• Mobilizing and engaging Canadians, in particular Iranian Canadians, to support the peaceful efforts of Iranians for democracy and human rights in Iran.
• Giving voice to survivors of human rights abuse by the Iranian regime and ensuring that perpetrators are accountable for committed crimes.
• Engaging with the Canadian media to offer insight into the people of Iran for democracy and freedom.
